Building Blocks - Glory of the Roman Empire Demo

by Chris Massey

Don’t Forget to Trade

Building trading posts and trading for that which isn’t readily available is also a good strategy, and key to one of the demo scenarios. Trade doesn’t offer the option to freely trade with every city, but neighboring cities will often need six timber for three gold, or will give twelve timber for three gold, or similar combinations of supply and demand. With multiple trading posts, it’s possible to get multiple trades started, often to supplement one another, in addition to resources mined or grown locally. Again, though, be wary of going overboard, and watch the balance of your resources, because they can quickly go out of whack and raise all sorts of shortages and imbalances.

Perty Bushes

Last, but not least, don’t forget to make the town perty! There are several types of decorations in the demo, from monuments to statues to bushes and gardens. Pretty towns need pretty people need pretty decorations. The more green that lines the roads and avenues, the happier the populace will be. And the Emperor likes green…so get to it!
